SSB Teflon hoses are engineered and manufactured for maximum flexibility and performance against the broadest range of chemicals and pressure extremes. Teflon Braided hoses are divided into two categories: Smoothbore and Convoluted (also known as corrugated). Both designs incorporate a Teflon tube core with an outer cover construction which provides its strength when coupled with the proper crimp style fittings. The Teflon tube is available in many different fluoropolymers such as PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), FEP (Fluorinated ethylene propylene), and PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy). Each of these fluoropolymers have different chemical resistant properties and temperature resistant properties. There are many advantages and disadvantages for both types of tube construction. Each application must be evaluated in order to insure that the correct type of hose is used. Some applications require the inner core to be conductive to dissipate static build up. SSB Hose offers both non-conductive (natural) and conductive (black) inner core Teflon tubes. The hose cover usually consists of a stainless steel metal braid construction similar to the metal corrugated hose and or EPDM rubber covered. Special cover materials are also available upon request.
